As a green variety, 'Victoria' is generally more prolific than its pink and red counterparts.

Important: Only the stalks are edible; the leaves are toxic to humans and animals.

Plant in any moist, well-draining soil in a sunny position. Add plenty of well-rotted manure or compost when planting and avoid sites that become waterlogged in winter.
Harvesting can begin from the second year, typically from late May to June.
Allow the foliage to die back naturally in autumn, then cut away the old leaves. If a flower stalk appears, cut it down to the base to conserve the plant's energy for stalk production.
Generally pest and disease resistant. Avoid crown rot by watering only when necessary at the base of the plant. Protect young plants from slugs and snails using a barrier such as copper wire or crushed eggshells.
