Planting Time: January, February, March, October, November, December.
Planting: Tolerates most conditions but prefers well-drained, loamy soil. If your soil is heavy or sandy, mix in perlite or horticultural grit to improve drainage. Bare root plants can be stored for several weeks in a cool, dark spot in winter; in spring, plant within a few days of arrival.
Pruning: Prune in late winter-early spring (February/March). For the brightest stems, do not prune in the first year. After that, cut back hard to a woody base within 4" of the ground each year before new buds appear. Feed and water well afterwards. Regenerate old plants by cutting out the old wood from the centre.
Pest & Disease: Generally pest free, but can occasionally suffer from cornus anthracnose.
