Habit: Upright, clump-forming. Forms a large open clump of stems with an upright growth habit, slightly arched at the top.
Location: Beds & borders, Pots
Eventual Spread: Plants will form clumps of around 1.5m wide.
Hardiness: H6 - hardy in all of UK and northern Europe (-20 to -15). Needs no winter protection.
Pest & Disease Resistance: Generally disease free - protect the young stems as they can be targeted by slugs and snails.
Soil Type: Thrives in moist, well-drained loamy soil which won't get waterlogged.

Spacing: Plant 1.5m apart to allow for spreading.
Watering: Water your bamboo thoroughly at planting time and make sure it doesn’t dry out until established (around 1yr after). Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Once established it shouldn’t need additional watering.
Feeding: Bamboo benefits from some well rotted manure mixed into the soil when planting and an annual mulch with more of the same or compost. You can also add a handful of chicken manure pellets in spring and summer.
Pruning: Remove weak, dead, damaged or spindly stems in spring. You can remove the lower leaves to show off the stems to their best effect. Cut out any flowering shoots promptly to discourage more from forming. This bamboo can also be shaped and trimmed to keep it in shape.
