Habit: Upright, clump-forming. Forms a large open clump of stems with an upright growth habit, slightly arched at the top due to the weight of the foliage.

Eventual Spread: Plants will form clumps of around 1.5m wide.
Hardiness: H6 - hardy in all of UK and northern Europe (-20 to -15). Needs no winter protection.

Soil: Thrives in moist, well-drained loamy soil which won't get waterlogged.
Planting: Plant from March to May in your preferred location. This bamboo is shallow-rooted and suitable for beds, borders, or large pots.
Pest & Disease: Generally disease-free. Protect the young stems as they can be targeted by slugs and snails.
Pruning: Prune annually in spring or as needed. Remove weak, dead, damaged or spindly stems. You can remove the lower leaves to show off the stems to their best effect. Cut out any flowering shoots promptly. This bamboo can also be shaped and trimmed to keep it at a manageable height.
