Plant in moist, well-drained loamy soil which won't get waterlogged. For the best colour, choose a position in full sun.
Prune annually in spring to remove weak, dead, or damaged stems. This bamboo can be trimmed to keep it in shape.
To show off the canes, remove the lower leaves and side shoots up to a height of 120cm.
Cut out any flowering shoots promptly to discourage more from forming.
This variety has excellent pest and disease resistance, but protect young stems from slugs and snails.
