Planting: Plant in a sunny or partially shaded spot, sheltered from strong winds. Prefers moist, well-drained, acid to neutral soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the rootball, add some well-rotted compost or ericaceous compost to the backfill, and water thoroughly after planting.
Care: Water regularly during dry spells, especially in the first few years after planting. Apply a general-purpose fertiliser in spring. Pruning is minimal; simply remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches in late autumn or winter when the tree is dormant.
