- Planting & Care
- A standout native tree, its striking silver-white bark peels like paper as it ages, revealing dark fissures that give each tree unique character.
- Features elegantly drooping branches and a light canopy of bright green, serrated leaves that turn a vibrant golden-yellow in autumn.
- In April and May, clusters of yellow and green catkins appear, resembling lambs' tails.
- A wildlife haven, supporting over 300 insect species, moths, and fungi, while providing nesting sites for birds like woodpeckers.
- The seeds attract birds such as siskins, greenfinches, and redpolls.
- Improves soil quality by returning nutrients to the topsoil through its fallen leaves.
- In Celtic tradition, the silver birch symbolizes renewal and new beginnings.
- Species: Birch
- Features: Fantastic foliage, Native to UK, Autumn colour, Attractive bark
- Flowering Season: Early spring, Late spring
- Flowering Time: March, April
- Flower Colour: Yellow
- Foliage Colour: Green
- Position: Full Sun
