- Planting & Care
- Yields a large crop of juicy, red-tinged yellow plums.
- A sweet, fruity taste often considered superior to the Victoria plum.
- Perfect for eating fresh from the tree or making delicious jams.
- An early-season variety, ready to harvest in July.
- Awarded the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit.
- Supplied in an EcoPot™, using 70% less plastic and promoting healthier roots.
- A well-established tree, typically 18-36 months old when delivered.
- Professionally pruned before dispatch to encourage strong, bushy growth.
- Species: Plum
- Latin Name: Prunus domestica
- Taste: Packed with flavour - very sweet, rich with a nice fruitiness.
- Uses: Eating, Making Jams
- Flowering: April, May
- Harvest: July
- Position: Full sun
- Hardiness: Hardy. May require some protection from very late frosts as this can damage the flowers. This won't cause lasting damage to the tree but will reduce the yield of fruit that year.
- Soil: Prefers well drained, loamy soils. Will tolerate less than perfect conditions but may not fruit too well. Will struggle in poorly draining soil.
- Pollination: Doesn't require a pollination partner to produce fruit but may produce better crops if one is nearby. In most built up areas, it is unlikely there will not be a suitable tree close enough to pollinate, but in rural areas you should consider making sure there is another tree in the same pollination group within a mile.
- Pest & Disease: Excellent resistance to the main pests and diseases for plum trees including cracking. There may still be a need to keep an eye out for aphids and caterpillars, which can both be washed away with soapy water.
- Planting Time: Can be planted all year round.
- Watering: Water in thoroughly when planting. A container grown tree will need more watering until its roots are established. It should be watered every other day or so for the first few months, then reduce to twice a week until autumn. In the second year it should have an established enough root system to support itself, just water when required in dry spells. When watering a tree it is important to give a good soaking rather than little and often.
- Feeding: No need to feed. This isn't a hungry plant.
- Pruning: Some pruning should be done each winter to ensure that your Plum tree maintains a productive shape. This can improve yields and prevent disease.
Product Specifications
- Rootstock: SJA rootstock
- Eventual Height & Spread: H5m x W4m
- Height on Arrival: 120-150cm inc. pot

- Time to First Crop: You may see your first plums 3 years after planting, but you should not expect substantial crops until the 4th/5th year.
