Planting Time: Can be planted year-round, except in November. When planting, if your soil is heavy or sandy, mix in some perlite or fine horticultural grit to improve drainage.
Bare Root Care: Our bare root plants are lifted fresh and packed straight away. In winter, you can store them for several weeks if kept in a cool, dark spot. In spring, plant within a few days of arrival.
Pruning: An established beech hedge is best pruned in late summer. August is the ideal time, as this allows the plants to recover before winter. A light tidy-up can also be done in June if needed.
Pests & Diseases: Good general resistance. Aphids and beech bark scale may occasionally be a problem. May be affected by coral spot.
