This native Hazel hedge is a haven for wildlife and produces delicious, edible hazelnuts.
Large, round leaves turn a striking orange and gold in autumn, while fluffy yellow catkins adorn the bare branches from January to March.
Hazelnuts are ready to harvest between September and October.
A fast-growing and fully hardy plant, it can reach 8m but is easily maintained as a hedge between 1-5m.
Pruned stems make excellent, sturdy stakes for supporting peas and beans in the garden.
