Planting: Roses thrive in most soil types, as long as they're well-drained. If your soil is very heavy or sandy, mix in some garden compost and perlite when planting. Space plants 60cm apart; for a hedge, space them at half their mature width.
Watering: Water newly planted roses every 2-3 days. Once established, water once a week, more during dry spells. Always water at the base of the plant to avoid wetting the foliage. Potted roses require more frequent watering.
Feeding: Feed twice a year. First in late March/April at the start of the growing season, and again in late July after the first flush of blooms has finished. Use a granular rose food.
Pruning: Deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage continuous flowering. Perform a harder prune in late winter or early spring (Jan/Feb). In the first year, trim flowering shoots by 7-12cm. From the third year onwards, cut back all stems by about a third to maintain shape and health, removing any dead, damaged or crossing stems.
Pest & Disease Care: This variety has good disease resistance. To prevent issues like black spot, remove any affected or fallen leaves promptly and mulch around the base of the plant. Pruning for an open, airy framework helps prevent mildew.
