In May and June, the tree is covered in small flower clusters, each surrounded by four large white bracts, creating the effect of a light snowfall.
The foliage provides further interest, turning to vibrant shades of crimson and red in autumn before falling.
Also known as the Szechuan strawberry, it produces unique pinkish-red, edible fruits in autumn, often used for decoration.
