Pest & Disease: Your 'Butterfly' acer won't typically encounter many issues with pests or diseases. Like many plants, however, it can be susceptible to aphids. Fortunately, these can easily be washed off by spraying the affected area with some soapy water.
Soil Type: Any moist, well-drained soil

Spacing: Plant 2.5m apart to allow for spreading.
Planting: For best results, plant your acer in a sheltered spot to prevent leaf scorch from strong winds.
Watering: Water your acer regularly throughout its first growing season as this will help it establish properly. This is particularly important in hot conditions. Once established, you'll usually only need to water your tree during dry spells throughout the growing season.
Feeding: Your acer may benefit from an application of general fertiliser towards the end of February, though it will still grow nicely enough without this.
