Position: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Will tolerate less than perfect conditions but prefers well drained, loamy soils. If your soil is heavy or sandy, mix in some perlite or fine horticultural grit when planting, to improve drainage.
Hardiness: H6 - hardy in all of UK and northern Europe (-20 to -15)
Habit: This shrub has several shoots rather than a single stem, often arising from a central point but sometimes also from elsewhere.
Eventual Spread: Spreads approx 2-3m unless pruned
Growth Rate: Expect 40-60cm per year

Planting Time: Can be planted in January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, and December.
Pruning: A beech hedge can be lightly trimmed and tidied up in June, if it’s looking a little messy, however we recommend pruning an established beech hedge in late summer. August is the ideal time, as a late summer cutting means that the plants have enough time to regrow and recover before the winter.
Pests & Diseases: Good pest and disease resistance. Aphids and beech bark scale may be a problem. May be affected by coral spot.
