Planting Time: March - May or October - November
Position: Plant in a sheltered spot in full sun or partial shade.
Soil: Prefers any fertile, well-drained soil. If you have clay soil, improve drainage by mixing in horticultural grit when planting.
Spacing: Plant 3m apart to allow for spreading.
Watering: Water well after planting and during dry spells for the first year.
Feeding: Not required. Your tree will get nutrients from the soil; mixing in compost at planting is beneficial.
Pruning: Prune lightly in dry weather, removing any dead, diseased or awkwardly placed branches as needed.
Pest & Disease: Good resistance. Pruning in dry weather helps prevent coral spot. Aphids can be removed by hand.
