- Recognised by the RHS for attracting bees and butterflies to its pretty pink blossom.
- Ready for harvesting your own delicious fruit in late summer.
- Thrives in full sun, ideal for a border against a south or west-facing wall, or in a large pot.
- Species: Peach
- Features: Self fertile
- Flowering Time: March
- Harvest Time: August
- Flower Colour: Pink blossom in spring
- Position: Full sun
- Soil Type: Any well drained, fertile soil
- Eventual Spread: Spreads approx 2.5-4m unless pruned
- Habit: An upright tree with a bushy habit
- Hardiness: Hardy (H4) - May require some protection from very late frosts.
- Pest & Disease Resistance: Good resistance, including to Peach Leaf Curl.
- Uses: Eating fresh, cooking, preserves
- Planting Time: Plant your tree from November to March.
- Planting Location: Choose a spot in full sun. It is best planted in a border near a south or west-facing wall, but is also suitable as a standalone tree in warmer regions or grown in a large pot.
- Soil: This tree will tolerate less than perfect conditions but prefers well-drained, loamy soils. If your soil is heavy or sandy, mix in some perlite or fine horticultural grit when planting to improve drainage. Peach trees get all the nutrients they need from the soil - if yours is poor quality, mix in some compost when planting.
- Watering: Water in thoroughly when planting. For the first few months, water every other day, then reduce to twice a week until autumn. In the second year, it should have an established enough root system to only require watering in dry spells. When watering, give a good soaking rather than little and often to encourage deep root growth.
- Pruning: Some pruning should be done each winter to ensure that your peach tree maintains a productive shape. This can improve yields, enhance airflow, and prevent disease.
- Frost Protection: The tree is hardy (H4), but very late frosts can damage the flowers, which will reduce the yield of fruit for that year. This will not cause lasting damage to the tree.
- Pest & Disease: This variety shows good resistance to the main pests and diseases for peaches, including Peach Leaf Curl. Reduce the risk of bacterial canker by pruning to improve airflow and removing rotting organic matter nearby. Aphids and caterpillars can be washed away with soapy water.
