Frequently Asked Questions

We email instructions for assembly to your email, and they are downloadable from the product page. We can also provide them to you on request, if you contact us.

1. Regular Cleaning: It's important to clean your wooden planters at least once a year to prevent the build-up of dirt and grime. You can do this with a mild soap and warm water solution. Rinse thoroughly and allow the planter to dry completely.

2. Drainage: Make sure your planters have sufficient drainage to prevent water logging. Standing water can lead to rot, which can damage your planter and harm your plants. Consider drilling additional holes if necessary.

3. Protective Liner: Consider using a protective liner inside the planter to prevent direct contact between the soil and wood, which can lead to rot. You can use landscaping fabric, plastic or even a thick layer of newspaper.

4. Treating the Wood: To protect the planter from the elements and increase its lifespan, it's recommended to treat the wood annually with a non-toxic, weather-resistant wood sealant or preservative. Make sure to choose a product that's safe for use around plants

A wooden planter provides a rustic and natural home for your plants, and can add to the aesthetic of any garden. Their trough shape means they can be used in any garden setting, patio or balcony.

Your wooden planter has been pressure treated, which is considered to be the most effective form or wood treatment. This means your planter is more durable and sturdy, and is more protected against wood rot.

Yes we recommend using a porous and permeable liner, as this will help protect the interior of the planter, as well as prolonging its life.

Great product

"The actual barrel itself is of great quality and the price is fair. The only thing I was disappointed with was the lining that I ordered. Pricey for a sheet of plastic unless I’m missing something about it? Would have been cheaper to cut up plastic I have in my shed??"

"This is the real deal and not a poor imitation. Sturdy and great colour. Very happy with it"

Barrel Oak Tree Planter

"Firstly I’d like to thank whoever delivers the barrel, it was a little bigger and heavier (solid) than I’d expected, they rang me when they arrived and placed it where I requested, it must have been hard work! The Barrel Oak Tree Planter itself is just what In was looking for and is already planted with a15 year old mulberry tree, surrounded by indigenous snow drops and looks beautifuul, lots of growing room for the tree as well. As you can tell, very happy with this purchase, thank you"
