Aluzinc consists of carbon steel entirely enveloped by a specially crafted alloy blend of 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon. This outer layer acts as a shield, safeguarding the inner steel from environmental factors and corrosion, providing up to six times more corrosion resistance than conventional galvanized steel, a popular choice for outdoor applications. The application of this coating involves a hot-dipping process. While Aluzinc shares a similar appearance on the surface to bright, 'spangled' galvanized steel, it boasts superior strength and longevity.
Premium Quality Planters Delivered
Inspirations, ideas for your garden
Zinc, while not completely rust-proof, corrodes at a much slower rate than many other metals. Our zinc planters are electroplated for rust and corrosion resistance, but avoiding scratches to the outer is crucial to maintain their protection, and also to use liners inside.
Using a liner in your zinc planter is a good idea for several reasons. Firstly, a liner helps protect the zinc surface from direct contact with the soil, moisture, and plant roots, which can extend the planter's lifespan by preventing corrosion. Additionally, liners make it easier to switch out or replant flowers and plants, simplifying maintenance and ensuring your planter remains in excellent condition. Overall, using a liner in your zinc planter is a practical choice for both preserving its longevity and simplifying gardening tasks.

To maintain your zinc planter, we would recommend using a cloth or brush designed for use on metal surfaces to wipe down the outside of the planter, after any heavy rain or storms.
All of our zinc planters come with drainage holes already installed and with bungs to plug them. This allows for easy drainage.
