Planting & Care instructions: To plant up your fibreclay bowl, start by placing a 1-litre deep water plant or miniature water lily at the base of the bowl. Then, use the included wire mesh to support up to three 1-litre marginal plants above it. Fill the planter with water until all the marginal plants are submerged to a depth of 3cm, and maintain this level throughout the season by topping up as needed. Position the bowl in a sunny or partially shaded spot for best growth. While the plants themselves are fully hardy, protect the container from hard frost to prevent the water from freezing solid. If the water becomes stagnant or overly muddy, simply replace it with fresh water.
Long-Term Care: Keeping your container pond healthy over time is easy with the right accessories. Add Ramshorn Snails (Planorbis) or Trapdoor Snails (Viviparus viviparus) to help keep algae under control and clean up waste naturally. Use hessian liners and a layer of gravel to stop soil from seeping into the water. Floating plants and oxygenators help shade the pond and maintain oxygen levels, both of which reduce algae growth. For established ponds, a boost of pond fertiliser in the second growing season supports strong, healthy plant growth.
Why Use a Fountain? Even in small water features, water movement is essential for a healthy environment. Still water invites stagnation and algae. Whether it's a pump creating gentle circulation or a fountain adding an aerating spray, moving water significantly boosts oxygen levels, discourages algae, and improves overall water quality. This creates a more balanced ecosystem and enhances the visual and auditory appeal of your feature. While plants help, they often can't fully prevent algae in warm, still conditions, making a pump or fountain a crucial addition.
Please Note: The fountain pumps are sent separately.

"Hi - I received my pond in a pot today and put it together etc. So far so good. Great idea for those who don’t really know much about putting together a pond."
— Elisa M. (5/5)
"This is a great idea. The only way you can get the plants to be under the water as they’re supposed to be would be to put them right in the middle of the bowl. But that means you won’t have enough surface space to put the solar fountain. So probably one less plant or a bigger bowl is what you need"

"It arrived quickly and everything was in good condition, the plants were well packed and fresh. It’s small but perfect for my garden. The only downside for me was as a total novice I wasn’t sure how to set it up and where the plants should be. An idiots guide to setting it up and what to put where would have been very helpful. As it is I just guessed and hope for the best!!"

"All parts arrived promptly and in good condition. The karts were easy to construct and I am pleased with pond. The water has remained clear and healthy and I have had two small flowers."

"This is exactly what i hoped for. It arrived very well packaged, extremely healthy looking plants, and the actual bowl is fabulous, and looks beautiful all planted up on my new patio. I had my own solar fountain , and now am looking forward to the plants flowering. Thank you."
— Karen P. (5/5)
"I was looking for a well made reasonably priced bowl to create a water feature for the patio. The addition of a solar powered water fountain was all that was needed. It now sits among the ferns and hostas creating a Moroccan style feature in a shady corner and the sound of water is so relaxing. . ."
