Planting: Plant in a sunny spot in fertile, well-drained soil. Avoid areas prone to frost and ground that has recently grown potatoes, chrysanthemums, or tomatoes, as they can all be affected by the disease verticillium wilt.
Pruning: If your strawberry plant is planted in late summer, remove the flowers in the first year to encourage better fruiting the following year. After harvesting, remove old leaves but leave the crown and new leaves untouched to allow sunlight into the centre of the plant.
