Alustone planters are made using a special textured coating process to mimic solid stone. We start with an Aluzinc base planter which is then treated with a primer to ensure proper adhesion.

We apply a stone-texture coating - a sprayed-on mixture that contains fine mineral particles to replicate the look and feel of natural stone. The coating bonds securely to the primed metal surface. After the texture layer is applied, we finish it with a protective paint to enhance durability and weather resistance.

This process ensures the look of real stone while keeping the planter lighter, more durable and weather resistant.

All our planters are suitable for outdoor use. However, for indoor use, we find our range of aluzinc planters, which includes the stone effect range, to be the most popular as Corten can leave stains on hard surfaces and wooden has a more outdoor aesthetic.

Choosing the right planter size is important for plant health. Generally, you’ll want a planter that’s 1–2 inches larger in diameter than your plant’s root ball for smaller plants, and 2–4 inches larger for larger plants. This provides enough room for growth without too much excess soil.

Yes! All our wooden planters are sourced from sustainable wood and our aluzinc planters are built from 100% recycled materials.
