Terra Edge at RHS Hampton Court 2025: Tom Pilgrim's "Hot Pocket".

The Brief

"Hot Pocket," a drought-tolerant planting pocket drawing on dry meadow and gravel garden styles, showcased Achillea, Kniphofia, Eryngium, Salvia and ornamental grasses. With a tight show-build timeline to work within, Tom Pilgrim needed an edging solution that could shape the pocket's loose, organic borders while avoiding a stiff, municipal look.

Why Terra Edge?

• Ready-weathered look — the rust patina is already developed on arrival, giving the border a finished appearance right from installation, rather than after months of weathering
• 1.5mm steel construction — pliable enough to follow the pocket's natural curves, yet sturdy enough to keep its shape
• Four-point locking system — quick, reliable joins even under the pressure of a show-build deadline

In Tom's Words

"The quality of the patina on Terra Edge was great, a gorgeous earthy brown rust... with 'Hot Pocket' being temporarily installed at Hampton Court, waiting around for the patina to develop was not a luxury I had."

"With a 1.5mm thickness, it's perfect for the use case of my 'Hot Pocket' garden, creating the defined, sweeping curves while doing its job at retaining soil and stones. Terra Edge's four point locking system was incredibly easy to use — no fiddling, no fuss, just lock in place securely."

The Result

The finished border gave the design a polished, professional edge that complemented the scheme's soft, meadow-style planting — helping the garden earn a Silver Gilt medal.
